The Malawian flagcarriers first assignment is against Costa do Sol tomorrow, with the top two teams in the group advancing to the semi-finals.

In an interview yesterday, Silver Strikers Company Limited chief executive officer Patrick Chimimba said they are optimistic that the team will do well.

“They have been supported with almost everything they wanted and we expect the best,” he said.

The team’s coach Andrew ‘Aluki’ Chikhosi said in an interview that though they expect a tough campaign, they are ready.

“All the teams are champions of their respective countries. But we have a good team that can compete,” he said.

The Council for Southern Africa Football Associations (Cosafa)la has also backed the NBM Women’s Premiership defending champions, describing them as “debutants who arrive with a growing reputation following an outstanding domestic campaign”.

The squad also includes five players who were part of the Scorchers squad at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco where they finished as runners-up.

The five are Ireen Khumalo, Tionge Phiri, Madyina Nguluwe, Chikondi Gondwe and Deborah  Henry.
